Day Tripper

Winter here's long, and by February the snow can start to look grey; salty and sandy and peed on in places. It's near impossible to judge the depth of the puddle you're about to step in as you cross the street.

In Maine, though, there are trails with no footprints. The snow is light and fresh and inviting, and you can't hear any cars passing as you hike. Which, if you have my sense of direction, means you are lost in the woods...
